Uninhibited children

I rolled up to a traffic light and stopped next to a lady with a little girl on the back her bike. The girl was actually quite old to be riding in a child’s seat, but that’s nothing unusual in Holland. She was chatting with her mother while we were both waiting for the green light. “You’ve had 3 children, right?” The lady confirmed. “And one of them died, right?” The lady confirmed that statement as well, glancing slightly towards me. I did my best to pretend not to listen. “So now you have two children left!”, the girl concluded triumphantly, visibly happy with her deductive capacities. The light turned green and we all cycled our way. Children can be so delightfully uninhibited.
